Judge Kalan Gardner Sr. was born on February 6, 1985, in Galveston, Texas, as the eldest of three children—a role he embraced with purpose and pride. A product of Port Arthur ISD, he graduated from Memorial High School in 2003 as part of the school's historic inaugural class. Now a devoted father to his son, Kalan Gardner Jr., Judge Gardner is actively involved in his community, reflecting his commitment to service. He lives by the guiding principle: “If I can help someone along the way, then my living won’t be in vain.” As he campaigns for a better future, his dedication to lifelong learning continues as he pursues a Master of Divinity at Virginia Union University, deepening his commitment to service through faith and scholarship.
From an early age, Judge Kalan Gardner used his musical talent to uplift others, becoming an accomplished organist and launching his ministry through music. He answered his call to preach during his freshman year of college and delivered his first sermon on December 28, 2003. His theological training spans institutions such as United Theological Seminary, Trinity Bible College, Grace School of Theology, and the College of Biblical Studies. He served as a youth pastor at New Hope Baptist Church and, in February 2016, became the youngest Senior Pastor of First Sixth Street Missionary Baptist Church—quickly emerging as one of the most dynamic leaders in the Golden Triangle. His impactful campaign for community upliftment through faith and music continues to inspire many.
In addition to his spiritual leadership, Judge Kalan Gardner is the founder of Restoring Faith Christian Counseling, a trusted resource offering hope and healing to individuals and families in the Port Arthur community. His deep roots in service, both in the church and beyond, have prepared him for public office with integrity, humility, and compassion. As he continues his campaign for re-election as your Justice of the Peace for Precinct 8, Judge Gardner leads with fairness and a servant’s heart—committed to meeting people where they are and making a difference that lasts.
